Private Sector participation projects can be regarded as a symbol of industrialisation of the Haldia industrial region. The major petrochemical complex of Haldia petrochemicals Limited adds a new dimension to possiblities by acting as a mother unit for setting up downstream industries like that of Plastic Thermowares, Paint Containers, Nursery Bags, HDPE bags, Ruffia Plants, PET resins units, etc. Their products are expected to have tremendous prospects in both domestic and export markets, spearheading a new industrial and economic resurgence in eastern India. Another mega project in Haldia with great downstream opportunities is the Purified Terphthalic Acid (PTA) project being implemented by Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation of Japan.

The plant, in collaboration with West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation, manufactures products to feed modern industries based on Bottles, filament yarns, Audio/Video Tapes, X-Ray/Photographic Films etc. The industrial region is ideally suited for manufacturing plants for Fertilisers, Oil Refinery, Mega Chemicals industries, Polysilicon Projects, Petrochemical Projects, Ship Building and Ship repair units, Light and Heavy engineering industries, textiles and many more to mention .Such mushroom industrial units have opened up doors of employment to lakhs and lakhs of people. Hence it can be concluded that Haldia has carved a place for itself in industrial India and promised all help to prospective entrepreneurs.
